ULB has been ranked 15th of European Universities and 76th in the world by the Time Higher Education, in 2005. It has been founded in 1834 and has currently 20,000 students. ULB has a long tradition of excellence in research : 2 Nobel Prizes in Medicine and 1 in Chemistry, 1 Medals Fields in Mathematics, 2 Wolf Prizes in Physics and 2 Marie Curie Awards. ULB currently participates to 100 European and International projects.

The Laboratory of Polymer Chemistry (LCP), composed of 15 researchers, focuses on the synthesis and studies of new organic materials for prospective electronics application. In particular, the major area of interest is organic semiconducting liquid crystals for which all the necessary equipment is directly available. It is in its main field of expertise that the Laboratory will contribute to the ONE-P project.

Verbatim

"The main advantage to coordinate ONE-P is the opportunity given to work and collaborate with the best researchers in the field in Europe and have access to multiple expertises."

What we do

ULB_group_photoOur group develops new organic conjugated materials with the ultimate goal to improve device performance. Since both the molecular structure and intramolecular packing are essential, one part of the  group is specialised in in the design, synthesis, purification and characterisation of materials and the other in the control of (semi)crystalline order at a mesoscopic scale (10 to 100 µm typically).
