RUG group Physics of Organic Semiconductors' (POS, about 20 people) is part of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials of the University of Groningen. The research focuses on organic semiconductors and their use in LEDs, plastic electronic components as FETs and PV devices, inorganic-organic solar cells as well as molecular electronics and circuits.
Main tasks in the project: Characterization and understanding of the charge injection from various electrodes into organic semiconductors and self-assembled molecules. Device modeling will be performed using in-house developed numerical simulation programs.
Previous experience relevant to the tasks: The group has a large experience on the study of basic processes as charge transport in polymeric & molecular semiconductors, charge injection from metallic electrodes into organic semiconductors, and charge- and energy transfer processes between various molecules and polymers. Device models has been developed which, quantitatively describes the I-V characteristics of organic devices as OLED, TFT and PV.
