UCL was the fourth-ranked UK University in 2006. The London Centre for Nanotechnology, LCN is a joint enterprise between University College London and Imperial College London. In bringing together world-class infrastructure and leading nanotechnology research activities, the Centre aims to attain the critical mass to compete with the best facilities abroad. Physics and Astronomy is the largest of seven Departments in the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at UCL

UCL_group_photoThe research group lead by Franco Cacialli works on organic semiconductors (OS) and related nanostructures. Available expertise and facilities are: i) Fabrication under controlled atmosphere of OLEDs, PVDs, and FET. Additional LCN facilities include standard clean rooms, focused-ion-beam, e-beam lithography, a range of scanning probe microscopes (SPMs), and environmental SEM, ii) scanning near-field optical microscopy and lithography, photoluminescence, PL efficiency, electroluminescence of LEDs. Temperature controlled UV-vis-NIR absorption, iii) electroabsorption equipment for non-invasive probe of built-in voltage in finished and Kelvinprobe measurements for open electrodes surfaces.

Franco Cacialli is coordinator of the Marie-Curie RTN Treadmill
